40 Films in Robotech: Creature with the Blue Hand (1967) and STAR WARS TRIVIA NIGHT on SCARIF PODCAST

Not gonna lie: this may be my least favorite movie on the list. If you like horror exploitation films, this may pique your interest. Also, the gore in this original Creature with the Blue Hand (1967) is laughable by today’s standards…

 ROBOTECH MENTION:

In Robotech episode 4 The Long Wait, Rick and Minmei are stranded in a forgotten part of the large spaceship, the SDF-1. Rick loans Minmei an extra flight shirt for a change of clothes and the sleeves are ridiculously long. Minmei has fun with it and says in a faux-scary voice, “The Creature Without Any Hands! Bleh!” I’ve cued up this YouTube post of the episode to the point where Minmei says this line…

A good number of movies have the term “creature” in the title but Creature with the Blue Hand seemed to fit best, especially since it involved “with”, “hands”, and “blue” (pretty close to ‘bleh!’).

 SYNOPSIS:

Jason Lockard on the blog Classic Cinema Magazine offers this synopsis: “Scotland Yard is trying to solve a series of grisly murders committed by a homicidal maniac called The Blue Hand.”

 AWARDS & KUDOS:

Out of 4 Film reels (4 being the best), the Film Masters Blu-Ray of Creature with the Blue Hand received 4 Film reels on Classic Cinema Magazine blog.

 OTHER COOL FACTS:

The original German title was Die blaue hand. The film was re-released straight to home video in 1987 with added footage and a new title: The Bloody Dead.

 ROBOTECH REASON:

Monster movies seem to pop up now and then in Robotech. Minmei creating a B-Movie Horror title like The Creature Without Any Hands seems perfectly normal in a world under attack from 50-foot aliens.

Apparently, I'm on the "highly knowledgeable nerd panel" - it's true. Originally scheduled for this Saturday, June 14th at 7pm CT, the match got postponed. I'll update this entry once we get a new date and time and then you can get there by clicking the YouTube player below:

Yes, I will be competing and, even-more-yes, I'll be promoting this 40 Films in Robotech series and the Digging Star Wars blog. See you there!
