The Godfather

Matt Flesher, a self-taught sculptor with 19 years experience in the Special Effects, Stop-Motion Animation, and Toy Industries, joins Digging Star Wars host Chris Mich to explore the connections between Francis Ford Coppola's The Godfather and Star Wars: Episode VI - Return of the Jedi. But the conversation doesn't stop there as both Matt and Chris muse on what's possible with the upcoming Episode VII installment in the Star Wars saga. Featuring music by Paul Oehlers, George Wolstenholme, Peter Fey, JDubious and more.

As mentioned in the episode, here is an official Star Wars Trivial Pursuit Card with a question regarding just one of The Godfather's connections to Star Wars...

And here is a picture circa August 1998 of several Digging Star Wars guests and a very special lady...

Pictured above: Holding R2-D2 is my wife Christy. To her left (faking pushing up glasses) is DSW: The Terminator guest David P. Ramos. In the back with tan shorts and a go-get-'em attitude is DSW: The Godfather guest Matt "Chief" Flesher, and to the right is DSW: The Clone Wars guest Josh Taback.

  1. Great episode guys. One correction: (SPOILER ALERT) Don Corleone died of a heart attack in the garden.

P.S. very bummed this is the season finale. It's always a treat.

    1. Thanks for the kind words, Josh. In my defense, the death scene is kinda vague. Yes, he grabs his heart and falls, but its more the gargling with a lime in his mouth that I was referrring to as a "silly, choking-like death". Thanks for listening.

  2. Oh it's silly alright. I can't eat an orange slice without making fun of that scene. Don't know if you realized the foreshadowing earlier when he's at the fruit stand when he gets shot buying oranges. Here's some more. http://www.jgeoff.com/godfather/oranges.html

Oranges do seem kinda like thermal detonators....... right?
