ESCAPE VELOCITY 2019: Screening and Deconstructing ORIGINAL STAR WARS

My Digging Star Wars blog has led me to a lot of cool things. But this may be the coolest. The Museum of Science Fiction has invited me to be part of an onstage panel that will screen and deconstruct the original Star Wars (1977). That’s right: Han shoots first!

This will be a day long remembered…and I hope you can join us!

This special and rare screening of the original theatrical version of Star Wars is part of ESCAPE VELOCITY – a futuristic world’s fair to promote STEAM education within the context of science fiction using the fun of comic cons and fascination of science and engineering festivals. NASA, The Arthur C. Clarke Foundation and Roddenberry Entertainment are just a few of the prestigious sponsors of the event.

This year’s ESCAPE VELOCITY is from Friday May 24th through to and including Sunday May 26th. In addition to the Star Wars screening, I’m also serving as Head Judge of the Escape Velocity Film Festival. This is my third year as Head Judge and I must say: the film entries get better and better and this year’s lineup is diverse, thought-provoking and wonderfully entertaining.

Star Wars fans will also have a chance to climb into the cockpit of the Millennium Falcon and grab a selfie.

And a lot more. Quite frankly, there’s so much to do. I hope you can make this year’s event. If you follow me on social media, DM me and I'll send you a code for a 50% discount on your EV Pass.
